This is the first circular of the International Workshop on Strangeness Nuclear Physics (SNP12-Osaka) which will take place in Neyagawa, Osaka, on August 27 (Monday) – 29 (Wednesday), 2012. This workshop is aimed to offer a short but useful occasion of discussion on recent topics in strangeness nuclear physics. This is one of the satellite meetings organized by taking an opportunity of the 20th International IUPAP Conference on Few-Body Problems in Physics (FB20) to be held in Fukuoka on August 20 (Monday) – 25 (Saturday), 2012 ( ) .

Host institute and organizers

The workshop is sponsored by the Foundation for International Exchange in Academic Research and Education of Osaka Electro-Communication University and the Inoue Foundation for Science. The workshop is also supported by the Research Center for Nuclear Physics (RCNP) of Osaka University and the RIKEN Nishina Center for Accelerator-Based Science.

The organizing committee consists of

  • T. Fukuda (Dept. Engineering Science, Osaka E-C), Vice chair
  • T. Harada (Dept. Engineering Science, Osaka E-C)
  • E. Hiyama (Nishina Center, RIKEN ),
  • Y. Mizoi (Dept. Engineering Science, Osaka E-C)
  • T. Motoba (Dept. Engineering Science, Osaka E-C), Chair
  • H. Noumi (RCNP, Osaka)

Subjects to be discussed

  • Baryon-baryon interactions
  • Production, structure and decay of S = –1 and –2 hypernuclei
  • Hadron systems with strangeness
  • Kaonic nuclear and atomic systems
  • Baryonic matter with strangeness
  • Experimental projects and facilities

Contributed abstracts

Those who want presentation of papers are requested to send one-page abstract in PDF attachment to the workshop contact address: If one likes to have the invitation letter for travel arrangement, please do not hesitate to contact the organizers well in advance. The scientific program will consist of invited talks and presentations selected from abstract contributions. The deadline for abstract submission is June 30, 2012. (The poster sessions will be considered when necessary.)

The workshop will take place in the Osaka Electro-Communication University Neyagawa campus The conference hall is in the campus in front of the Neyagawa station of the Keihan Railway which can be accessed within 20 minutes from the central area of Osaka such as Kyobashi and Tenmabashi. The Keihan Railway express also connects Kyoto in 45 minutes. If one arrives at the Kansai airport (KIX), one may take a train or limousine to go to the Kyobashi station. If one comes from Fukuoka after the FB20 Conference, take the JR Shinkansen train to Shin-Osaka, then transfer to the JR Osaka train network to go to the Kyobashi station where the Keihan Line connects. The transportation and the detailed map of the workshop site will be shown in the second circular and also in the webpage.
